When sharing a link in Hookle, you might sometimes notice that no image preview appears. On some platforms, like Instagram and TikTok, this means you cannot publish the post at all unless an image or video is included.
This usually happens because the website doesn't include a proper preview image or blocks it from being fetched. Hookle, like many apps, tries to show an image using special info from the website - but if that info is missing or limited (like in some videos), the preview won't appear automatically.
But don’t worry - while we continue to improve this feature over time, there are simple workarounds you can use in the meantime.
Workarounds
1. Add your own image manually
You can always upload a related image or create one to make your post more engaging - especially when no preview image appears.
2. Add the image manually from the website
If no image appears:
- Visit the link you’re sharing.
- Right-click on a suitable image (or video thumbnail) and choose "Save image as...".
- Return to Hookle, and upload the image manually to your post.
3. Extract image from page source
If the image isn’t visible on the page (which can happen especially with video content):
- Open the page and right-click → “View Page Source”.
- Search for og:image or twitter:image.
- Copy the image URL in the content="..." and open it in your browser to download.
4. Take a screenshot
If it’s a video or animated content, simply:
- Pause the video at a good frame.
- Take a screenshot and crop it nicely.
- Upload it as the post image in Hookle.
Some websites simply don’t allow automatic image previews, and such case you need to use workaround above. This is common with certain news sites, video services, or custom-built pages. If you continue facing issues, reach out to our support - we’re happy to help!
