Instead of a browser login, Bluesky uses a one-time App Password - a special password you create in Bluesky just for Hookle. Your real Bluesky password is never entered in or stored by Hookle.
Step 1 - Create an App Password in Bluesky
- Open bsky.app and log in
- Go to Settings → Privacy and Security → App Passwords
- Tap Add App Password, name it (e.g. Hookle) and tap Next
- You don't need to allow access to direct messages - Copy the password (format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx) - Bluesky shows it only once
Step 2 - Connect in Hookle
- In Hookle, go to Settings → Connect account (choose the right brand first if you use several)
Tap Bluesky - Enter your handle (e.g. yourname.bsky.social - a custom domain works too) and paste the App Password
- Tap Continue and confirm - your Bluesky account is now connected 🎉
- You can now publish, schedule, and track Bluesky posts alongside your other channels.
Good to know
- Forgot or lost the app password? Just create a new one in Bluesky (Step 1) and reconnect - old ones can't be viewed again.
- Revoking access: deleting the app password in Bluesky settings disconnects Hookle immediately. Hookle will show the account as expired; reconnect anytime with a new app password.
- Posts: Bluesky posts can have up to 300 characters, up to 4 images, or one video (max 60 seconds). Links and #hashtags work automatically.
